The Low Carbon Vehicle Partnership (LowCVP), develops initiatives that promote the sale and supply of low carbon vehicles and fuels, provides input and advice on government policy, and provides a forum for stakeholders to discuss issues such as new ideas, new technologies, regulatory changes or government proposals.

Transport for London (TfL), a local government body, is responsible for implementing the Transport Strategy for London, managing transport services across London that fall under the auspices of the Mayor and running the Congestion Charge system, as well as the Low Emission Zone.

BEST, Bioethanol for Sustainable Transport, is a four-year project, partly funded by the European Union (EU), in which vehicle manufacturers, ten cities/regions (amongst others Somerset County), five bioethanol producers and four universities cooperate to accelerate the introduction of bioethanol as alternative transport fuel in Europe.

DfT, the Department for Transport represents the UK at ERA-NET TRANSPORT (ENT), a network of national transport research programmes in Europe.

The London European Partnership for Transport (LEPT) was established in 2006 to coordinate and promote a sustainable transport agenda for London and its boroughs in Europe.
