TNT working with Renault on electric LCVs
'As part of its international environmental program Planet Me, which aims to cut CO2 emissions, global postal and express delivery company TNT is currently working with Renault to explore using Renault’s electric vehicles to meet the needs of its activity and operations in the Netherlands.
This reports green mobility website Green Car Congress.
"We will use Renault’s electric LCVs (Light Commercial Vehicles, MiM) for TNT Post distribution activity in Holland. Renault’s arrival on the electric vehicle market will help to speed up the acceptance of electric cars and will make this means of transport more attractive financially," according to Ruben van Doorn, strategy manager and CEO Office at TNT.
Earlier this year, the Renault-Nissan Alliance announced that it will form innovative partnerships with governments, cities and other organisations that will advance the deployment of electric vehicles worldwide. The alliance is already, amongst others, working together with the national governments of Japan, Israel, Denmark, France and Portugal to promote electric vehicles.
It is expected that the vehicle that will be deployed by TNT will be an electric version of the new Renault Kangoo and that it will appear on the Dutch roads somewhere in 2011.
